Christy Dignam: 'I know that my cancer will return… it's inevitable'

Christy Dignam has revealed he believes his cancer will return, saying that it’s “inevitable”.

The Aslan star admitted he will be trying to live his life as normal as possible – but fears his health going down hill again.

“The doctors have warned me that it will come back. There is no real cure for the cancer and the chemotherapy only arrests it, so its return is inevitable,” he told the Star newspaper.

“But it could return in 20 years or it could be next week. Until then I’m not walking around with a death sentence hanging over me.

“I can choose to wait for it or not wait for it, so I put out of my mind and get on with it,'” he said.

Last March, the 54-year-old was diagnosed with a rare form of blood cancer and underwent extremely grueling treatment.

He has now made a return to the stage, playing the Olympia last week with Aslan.
