Chloe Agnew reveals how she repaired broken relationship with dad David

Chloe Agnew has revealed how she repaired her broken relationship with her father David Agnew, after his very public split from her mum Adele King, otherwise known as Twink.

David and Twink, who are parents to daughters Chloe and Naomi, split back in 2004 after news broke of his affair with his RTE Concert Orchestra bandmate Ruth Hickey.

Two years after their split, panto legend Twink was left red faced when one of her private voicemails was leaked, which heard her shouting at her then husband David Agnew, telling him to “zip up your mickey”.

Twelve years on, Chloe has admitted that her relationship with her father is better than ever thanks to their mutual love of music, despite going through a “very tumultuous period”.

“My dad and I went through a lot, for a very tumultuous period of all our lives, which was quite public.

“It actually took music to bring us back together. Realising you have a unique bond is really special, and really rare, and it needs to be cherished.

“It was really when that penny dropped that it all became a very organic thing, it wasn’t forced, it was really enjoyable and it made sense, like, why didn’t we do this more,” she told TV Now Magazine.

The 27-year-old, who is set to head off on her first solo tour after years touring with Celtic Woman, happily admitted that her parents are now on “good terms” – over ten years after their split.

“I think all of us realise that life is so short and we all only really have so much time together and then you have to move on, you have to get over things.

“Life is life – we all have our bag of rocks on our back, we all have our own stuff to be dealing with, and when you have such great things in life to be enjoyed and shared we’ve chosen to focus on that.

“Both of my parents are great believers in having a positive outlook on life. Family, and those close to you, is all you have – your safety net and your circle of trust. We’re all in it together,” she added.
