British actor Orlando Bloom is actually IRISH

Orlando Bloom is actually part Irish, it has been revealed.

Although the Lord of the Rings star was born in the UK, his grandfather Francis John Copeland grew up in Holywood, Co. Down – making Orlando a quarter Irish.

According to the Irish Daily Mail, the 1911 Irish Census, which was recorded when Francis John was just 7-years-old – Orlando’s grandfather grew up on Wandsworth Street in the Castlereagh area of Belfast.

The couple later moved to India for work, and were based in Calcutta when they welcomed Orlando’s mum Sonia Copeland in 1941. The family then left India in the 1950s, and decided to settle in the UK.

Although it’s not known whether Orlando still has any family left in Northern Ireland, the 40-year-old actor was spotted in Co. Down back in 2014 where he attended actress Flora Montgomery’s wedding.

Naturally, the Pirates of the Caribbean star went down a hit with locals, and happily posed for pictures with Irish fans.
