Bono admits: 'I may NEVER be able to play the guitar again after my accident'

Bad news for U2 fans – Bono has admitted he might not be able to play the guitar ever again.

The Dublin star hurt his arm after falling off a bike in New York, and now the Elevation singer has said he may not fully recover.

Already Bono missed his annual charity busking session on Dublin’s Grafton Street, being the first year he’s ever missed the Christmas gig.

In a post on U2’s official website Bono said although being caught in Lycra was the most embarrassing part of his fall, he is worried about his guitar skills.

“I broke my hand, my shoulder, my elbow and my face but the real injury this year was to my Irish pride as it was discovered that under my tracksuit I was wearing yellow and black Lycra cycling shorts,” he wrote.

“Yes, LYCRA. This is not very rock ‘n’ roll,” he wrote.

“Recovery has been more difficult than I thought…As I write this, it is not clear that I will ever play guitar again.

“The band have reminded me that neither they nor Western civilization are depending on this,” he joked.

“I personally would very much miss fingering the frets of my green Irish falcon or my Gretsch. Just for the pleasure, aside from writing tunes,” he added.

“But then does the Edge, or Jimmy Page, or any guitarist you know have a titanium elbow, as I do now? I’m all elbows, I am.”

After his fall Bono had three fractures to his left shoulder blade, a fractured little finger and had is funny bone fractured in six places and tear through his skin.

He since got three metal plates inserted as well as 18 screws.
