Bernard Brogan opens up about life as a new dad

The GAA star is a new dad to twin boys

Bernard Brogan has opened up about life as a new dad.

The Gaelic footballer welcomed twins, Donagh and Keadan, with his wife Keira in July – and the sports star is absolutely loving fatherhood.

Speaking to Jenny Greene on RTÉ 2FM, Bernard admitted that life has been busy but “great” since welcoming the twins.

“It’s busy now. It’s all go. The weekends I try and row in as much as I can,” he said.

After Donagh and Keadan were born, the Dublin GAA star took just three weeks off before going back to work – but his busy schedule won’t stop him from putting his boys to bed every evening.

Bernard said he tries to make it home for the last feed at around half eight every night, and “get the guys down to bed”.

“You would hate to miss that,” he said, before adding that it was “non-negotiable”.

As for whether his sons will follow in his sporting footsteps, Bernard insisted that his boys will definitely play GAA when they’re older.

“Time moves very fast. When I was young, we played all sports, we swam, we played soccer, we played football,” he said.

“They will definitely be playing GAA. The values that you get and the lessons that you learn from team sport, I think is something I have brought into every part of my life.”
