Barry Keoghan and Jessie Buckley nominated for BAFTA Rising Star award

Dublin native, Barry Keoghan, and Kerry’s Jessie Buckley have been nominated for a BAFTA Rising Star award.

Black Panther‘s Letitia Wright, Widow‘s Cynthia Erivo and Lakeith Stanfield from Sorry to Bother You have also been added to the shortlist.

The winner will be chosen through a public vote and stars such as James McAvoy, Tom Holland and Kristen Stewart have all won the award in the past.

“I would like to thank both BAFTA and the jury from the bottom of my heart for putting me forward for the 2019 EE Rising Star Award – it’s a huge honour and a fantastic category to be nominated for, especially as the winner is decided by film fans at home,” Jessie told RTÉ.

Barry added that the nomination was “really exciting” and stated: “Over the years, I have watched so many actors and actresses that I admire be nominated in this category, so to think that I’m now on that list is an amazing feeling.”

Jessie is known for her role in Beast and also starred in War & Peace, while Barry starred in Dunkirk and American Animals, amongst other productions.

The winner of the BAFTA Rising Star Award will be announced on 10th February and you can vote here.
