Aoibhín Garrihy has revealed what inspired her daughter, Hanorah’s, quirky name.
The actress and her husband John Burke welcomed their first child in late June, and Aoibhin has since opened up about naming their newborn.
The 31-year-old has admitted that they were surprised to find out that the name was more special than they first thought.
Aoibhín told Evoke.ie, “I first came across the name after an artist from Dingle painted us a picture of the sea for our wedding.”
After naming their newborn, Aoibhín and husband John found out that Hanorah was actually a family name on both sides.
“My great granny was Hanorah and John’s granny and great granny was also Hanorah but all of them went by shortened names like Nora or Noni,” Aoibhín said.
However, the couple are happy with Hanorah’s full name, saying, “We don’t want to shorten it. We love the full name.”
