Aoibhin Garrihy feared Dancing With The Stars would be ‘career suicide’

Aoibhin Garrihy has admitted that she feared appearing on Dancing With The Stars could be “career suicide”.

The former Fair City, who is one of the favourites to win as she continues to impress the judges every week, initially jumped at the opportunity to appear on DWTS – but soon started to doubt her decision.

Speaking in the March issue of Irish Country Magazine, Aoibhin said, “I knew straight away, it was kind of a no-brainer. I was delighted to be asked, and then I thought: ‘OK, this is a reality TV show, is this kind of career suicide?'”

However, the actress’ fears soon diminished as she said, “It’s not like it’s Big Brother or anything”.

The 28-year-old also took the time to gush about her professional dance partner Vitali Kozmin.

“The dancing part of it is just total joy and I have a great pro in Vitali.”

The blonde beauty also spoke about her husband John Burke’s upcoming trip to Mount Everest.

“Everest is something John has been talking about for seven years, so I need to be there for him with that. It’s not a case of: ‘Bye, see you when you get back,’ I mean he might not come back,” she said.

The climb will take over two months, and Aoibhin will join John at the mountain’s basecamp before he leaves.

“You’re sitting around waiting for a weather window for a long time before you actually do the climb so there’s a lot of hanging around base – you go a bit demented, I think.

“So a lot of it is having someone there to see you through those days and I feel like I need to dedicate my time to that,” she added.
