Aodhán Ó’Riordáin reacts to being sued by Paddy Jackson for defamation

Aodhán Ó’Riordáin has responded to being sued by Paddy Jackson for defamation.

The lawsuit arose earlier in the week when Aodhán Ó’Riordáin tweeted his thoughts on the conclusion of the Belfast rape trial in which Paddy was among the accused.

The tweet was deleted shortly after but the suspended rugby player’s lawyer proceeded with the lawsuit anyway.

The Labour Senator has tweeted, “The matter is now in the hands of my solicitors. I won’t be making any further comment.”

Protests erupted north and south of the Irish border in the wake of all four of the accused not being found unanimously guilty with the hashtags #IBelieveHer and #SueMePaddy going viral.

The legal action also prompted people to recall an incident in 2012 when the Ulster man painted himself black and dressed like a slave.

We reported from the Dublin March on Thursday and yesterday which thousands of people attended.
