Anna Daly has revealed why she’s the “ultimate accidental TV presenter”, as she initially turned down TV3 when they first asked her to do a screen test.
The Weekend AM host “never had any aspirations” to be on TV, but fell into the job while she was working as a marketing manager for TV3.
Ten years on, the 39-year-old has been working on screen ever since.
“I’m the ultimate accidental TV presenter. I never had any aspirations to be a TV presenter,” she told the Irish Mirror.

“There are certain people who are always reading the news to their parents when they were kids but I was never like that. I did international marketing and business in college and I came to TV in a sales role in order to move into marketing.
“I was made marketing manager and it was all going right. Then there was a suggestion that I’d do a screen test – it wasn’t me asking to do anything – and I said no.
:Then I started thinking about it and thought I might regret it in 10 years time. So I did the Bill Keating Course in presenting, producing and directing, all in my own time and no one knew about it.
“Once I started it, I developed a huge interest in TV and when I finished the course I went back to the producer and said I’d like a screen test. They went on for months and eventually I was offered the role of reporter on Ireland AM and I haven’t looked back,” she explained.

The news comes soon after Anna returned to work back in April, after giving birth to her third child, Rhys, last year.
“Rhys is seven months now – in some ways it feels like days ago and in others it feels like years. It goes by in a bit of a haze with a new baby, particularly when you have others.
“Being back at work has been nice. It’s been good to get a bit of balance back into my life, I’m home Monday to Wednesday and then I’m in work for the four days,” she added.
Anna is also mum to two sons, James and Euan.
