Amy Huberman: ‘I was made out to look lesser than Brian O’Driscoll in the beginning’

Robbie Reynolds

Amy Huberman has she was portrayed in the media as “lesser” than Brian O’Driscoll when they first started dating.

The actress and the Irish rugby star first started dating back in 2006, at the height of Brian’s success as an international rugby player.

Naturally, Brian’s fame and Amy starring in RTÉ’s The Clinic made the couple a hot topic in the showbiz world and the pair attracted plenty of attention.

However, despite being known as one of Ireland’s most popular stars 11 years later, Amy has admitted that the press didn’t always paint her in the best light.

“I take it now for what it is. I understand people want to talk about Brian. I’m so proud of him so I’m happy to talk about him.

“But in the beginning, I’d be made out to look lesser in comparison because I was female, but this doesn’t happen as much anymore,” she said in the January issue of IMAGE Magazine.

“I do understand that they want to ask about him and about us.”

Meanwhile, Amy’s new RTÉ show Striking Out aired for the first time on Sunday – and people are LOVING it so far.
