Al Porter and Colm Hayes settle their ‘feud’ for a good cause

Al Porter and Colm Hayes have settled their feud, after the pair had a war of words in the press.

After former RTÉ radio host Colm claimed that Al never returns his texts, banned him from his new Today FM show and insisted that Al was drawing bingo balls at a nursing home when he gave him his big break on 2FM two years ago – Al hit back denying the claims.

However, the pair settled their differences in time to launch the Fifth Annual Cycle Against Suicide at Swords Castle in Co Dublin over the weekend.

Speaking to the Irish Sun, Al said, “It’s important to visit the elderly. I’ve brought some photographs of our time in 2fm to try to remind him of the good old days and he’s promised not to call me Anton.”

“It’s a great cause but an even better excuse to get to see my pal so he doesn’t shame me publicly for being a bad friend for another year.”

“Colm is confused. He’s only ever met two gay people in his life, me and Shirley Temple Bar and might be mixing us up. I certainly was not pulling bingo balls,” he insisted.

Colm had previously said, “Maybe he hasn’t asked me on because I’d overshadow him or explain to people where he actually came from.”

But Al hit back by saying, “It would be like inviting your dad to join your football team and anyway, Colm might take it over and turn it into his own show. Then I’d have to go off and join a support group with Jim Jim Nugent for people who’ve worked with Colm Hayes.”
