Aidan Turner has admitted that his mother is “the number one” in his life.
The Poldark star, who picked up the gong for Best Television Actor at the GQ Men of the Year Awards, expressed his love for his mammy Eileen on the red carpet.
The 33-year-old admitted that he hates worrying his mum, so he tries his best to hide his smoking habit from her.
“My mum’s the number one in my life. I make sure she’s looked after. I would never worry her,” he said, according to the Press Association.

“I do, at the odd moment, take a cigarette.
“I shouldn’t do that but it’s probably the last of my really bad habits. My mum is not impressed with that at all,” he confessed.
The Dubliner also revealed that when he returns to Ireland, he always makes sure to text his mum if he’ll be staying out late.
“If I’m staying over I send her a text always. I didn’t do that when I was younger… I’m a very good boy. I behave myself,” he laughed.
