A host of famous faces set to appear on The Late Late Show to pay tribute to Shane MacGowan

The line-up for Friday night's show has been revealed

A host of famous faces will appear on The Late Late Show this Friday, to pay tribute to the legendary singer-songwriter Shane MacGowan.

Tipperary’s most famous son will be in studio to perform a number of his best-known songs, including a very special rendition of his hit song ‘Fairytale of New York’.

Over the course of a lively evening full of songs, chat and laughter, Glen Hansard and Lisa O’Neill will pay tribute to Shane, joining his band for a stunning rendition of A Rainy Night in Soho.

Guests including Aidan Gillen, Patrick Bergin, Moya Brennan, Philomena Begley and Pat McCabe will also join host Ryan Tubridy to discuss the impact Shane and The Pogues have had on the Irish music industry.

Shane MacGowan and The Pogues play their annual Christmas concert at The RDS, Dublin, Ireland – 22.12.08.

Some very well-known friends of Shane have also sent a series of video messages to him, congratulating him on his special night.

Comedian and actor Pat Shortt will be in studio as well, making his way through the audience as his latest character.

As if that wasn’t enough, comedian Jason Byrne will be on the show too, giving his take on recent news stories and chatting about his series of children’s books.

And with Christmas around the corner, Ryan will be speaking to a number of volunteers who have been working tirelessly with Ireland’s homeless over the past year, showcasing the positive impact that volunteering can have for both parties.
