Eoghan McDermott has weighed in on Brian McFadden’s Twitter rant – admitting he thinks the star will be kicking himself for “dropping his guard”.
The former Westlife star lashed out on the social media channel after one user had a go at his career while he filmed Channel 4 reality show, The Jump.
The singer then began a tirade which included some choice words and a threat to strangle the tweeter which Eoghan believed the 35-year-old would now be embarrassed about.
“With the beauty of hindsight and about three seconds of introspection, I’m pretty sure Brian will be kicking himself for dropping his guard and using language like that,” he said.

Opening up about social media, Eoghan admitted Twitter allows people in the public eye to be targeted by online abuse.
“Twitter is a funny place when you’re in the public eye — it’s basically the same as handing out your phone number to the masses and inviting commentary from everyone who cares to throw in their tuppence on how you look, talk, walk and exist,” he wrote in his the Sun column.
“It is also a forum where people gravitate towards negativity as a default.  Regularly it is hostile, nasty and downright sinister.”
Better: Eoghan admitted Brian McFadden is better than engaging with petty insults | RTE
Admitting he couldn’t “condone” Brian’s language, the 2fm host insisted the Call on Me Brother singer is better than engaging with “petty insults”.
“I couldn’t for a second condone language like Brian’s. He’s big enough, bold enough and familiar enough with the game to not engage with petty insults,” he explained.
“However I have no doubt that the constant barrage of smartarses lining up to have a pop can become very grating and wearisome.”
