Queen Elizabeth II was forced to pull out of an engagement at St. Paul’s Cathedral this morning, because she is suffering from a cold.

The 92-year-old was due to attend a service to mark the 200th anniversary of the Order of St Michael and St George, but the British monarch was represented by The Duke of Kent instead.

A statement from Buckingham Palace said, “The Queen is feeling under the weather today and has decided not to attend this morning’s service at St Paul’s Cathedral marking the 200th anniversary of the Order of St Michael and St George.

“Her Majesty will be represented by The Duke of Kent as Grand Master of the Order.”

The Queen will continue with the rest of her scheduled events this weekend at Windsor Castle, as well as next week in Scotland.

The news is out of character for the monarch, who prides herself on maintaining a commitment to her busy schedule.

The 92-year-old underwent eye surgery last month to remove a cataract, but was only in the hospital for a day and did not cancel any engagements.

While she has allocated some of her further engagements to the younger members of the Royal family, she is still very busy and attended 296 engagements in 2017.
