Princess Diana almost starred in The Bodyguard sequel with Kevin Costner

The late Princess Diana of Wales was set to star in a sequel to hit film, The Bodyguard.

The 1993 film saw Kevin Costner star as an agent assigned to protect a pop star played by Whitney Houston.

The actor confirmed to PeopleTV that Diana was in talks to star in a second rendition of the film.

“The studio liked the idea of doing a Bodyguard 2,” he said, explaining that Diana would act “in the same kind of capacity as Whitney.”

He previously explained that the movie plot involved his role protecting Diana’s character from stalkers and paparazzi.

He told the publication that the first script for the project was finalized and given to him just one day before Diana was killed suddenly.

The princess was killed in a car accident on August 31, 1997 in Paris.

The film was set to be a romance, and the actor credited Sarah Ferguson for connecting Diana to the project.

Speaking to People, he recalled his phone conversations with the English royal.

“I just remember her being incredibly sweet on the phone, and she asked the question, ‘Are we going to have, like a kissing scene?’” he said.

“She said it in a very respectful … she was a little nervous because her life was very governed. And I said, ‘Yeah, there’s going to be a little bit of that, but we can make that OK too.’”

It’s a reality TV special as the girls delve into The Hills reboot, Love Island and all the drama with the Kardashians on this week’s Gosscast.

The Gosscast is sponsored by top Irish fashion website CraveCloset.com.
