Prince Harry defends decision to use private jet on holidays

Prince Harry has defended his family using a private plane while travelling abroad.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex faced backlash for using a jet on recent holidays to Ibiza and France with their son Archie.

In response to the controversy, they launched an eco-tourism initiative, Travalyst.

Travalyst is a “a global initiative striving to change the impact of travel, for good.”

Speaking at the launch of Travalyst in Amsterdam today, Prince Harry defended using a private jet 4 times in 11 days over the summer.

“Occasionally there needs to be an opportunity based on a unique circumstance to ensure that my family are safe, it’s generally as simple as that.”

Speaking on how he got to Amsterdam he stated “I came here by commercial. I spend 99% of my life travelling the world by commercial.”

Elton John jumped to the defence of Harry and Meghan earlier last month by saying that they offset their carbon emissions when they travelled to his home in Nice for a birthday party.

Offsetting carbon emissions allows passengers to compensate for the emissions produced as a result of their flight.
