Meghan Markle has revealed that she was warned against dating and marrying her now-husband Prince Harry.
The actress turned royal opened up about their romance in last night’s documentary on the couple, which followed their royal tour of Africa.
Meghan explained that her British friends warned her that she would be plagued by pressure from the UK media.
“It’s hard…When I first met my now-husband, my friends were really happy because I was so happy,” she said.
“But my British friends said to me ‘I’m sure he is great but you should not do it because the British tabloids will destroy your life.’”
“I very naively…[said] ‘What the hell are you talking about?'”
“‘That doesn’t make any sense, I’m not in tabloids.’ I didn’t get it. It’s been complicated.”
The couple have recently been open about the struggle of living in the royal limelight.
Harry addressed rumours which have followed him in the press regarding his relationship with his brother Prince William.
