Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are reportedly set to move into a plush cottage in Windsor – gifted to them by Queen Elizabeth II.

According to the Daily Mail, the newlyweds hope to move into Adelaide Cottage, which is located in Home Park in Windsor, very soon.

Sources say the couple fell in love with the property after the Queen offered it to them as a gift.

The property was built in 1831 as a retreat for William IV’s wife Queen Adelaide, and it has since been home to many Royal dignitaries.

Interestingly, Adelaide Cottage was once home to Princess Margaret’s lover Group Captain Peter Townsend.

Peter Townsend, equerry to King George VI, and his wife Rosie Marchioness Camden were given the grace-and-favour property in 1945.

The couple eventually divorced in 1952, before his controversial romance with Princess Margaret became public.

The cottage underwent renovation in 2015, and boasts some extravagant features.

According to heritage organisation Historic England, the main bedroom boasts a coved ceiling with gilded dolphins and a rope ornament from a 19th Century Royal yacht.

The cottage is ideal for Harry and Meghan, as a source said, “There are seven gated entrances and exits to Windsor Castle so the newlyweds could come and go without worrying about being photographed.”
