Kate Middleton has been given a new title, as she celebrates eight years of being a royal.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge celebrated their eight year wedding anniversary on Monday and Queen Elizabeth gave Kate a new title to mark the occasion.

The official Royal Family Twitter account revealed the news, by saying: “Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge has been appointed Dame Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order, for services to the Sovereign.”

In a statement released by the palace, the family said that “awards in the Royal Victorian Order are made personally by The Queen.”

Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall was given the same honour in the Queen’s 2012 Diamond Jubilee year.
