James Middleton has revealed that he had suicidal thoughts before he sought treatment for his depression.

Just 18 months ago, the 32-year-old finally decided to start going to therapy, after he found himself in a “dark and miserable place”.

James admitted he “couldn’t do anything” before he started attending cognitive behavioural therapy sessions with support from his family – including the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton.

He told The Telegraph: “I couldn’t do anything. I couldn’t sleep, I couldn’t read a book, I couldn’t eat. I removed myself from everything.”

Speaking about the times he had suicidal thoughts, James said he felt like he “needed a way out”, but couldn’t bear to leave his family or his dogs – especially his beloved cocker spaniel Ella.

Thankfully, James is now in a much better place, and said everyone is “delighted” by his progress.

“The way I was a couple of years ago was about as far the other end of the scale as it could be,” he admitted.

The entrepreneur is at a particularly special moment in his life, as he recently proposed to his French girlfriend Alizee Thevenet.

It’s believed James, 32, met 29-year-old Alizee at the South Kensington Club last year, after she stopped to say hello to his dog.

Their romance became public knowledge when they were papped kissing while on holiday in St Barts in January.

They were on vacation with Irish TV presenter Vogue Williams and her husband Spencer Matthews – who’s brother is married to Pippa Middleton.

Alizee moved to the UK in 2013, and works as a financial analyst.
