The Royal family apparently hated Princess Diana’s engagement ring – and here’s why.
The late princess’s ring is one of the most famous and recognisable engagement rings out there, especially now that her daughter-in-law Kate Middleton wears it.
The ring featured a 12-carat Ceylon sapphire design, complete with white gold band and 14 solitaire diamonds.
However, according to The Daily Mail even though the ring is now iconic to Diana, it was not exclusive to her, and it wasn’t bespoke either.
According to the media outlet, as the “crown jeweller Garrard featured the piece in its catalogue,” the ring was available for anyone to buy, if they had £60.000 to splurge.
As a “commoner” could technically buy the very same ring, this was allegedly looked down upon by members of the royal family.
