Tony Fenton back on Today FM with new show after beating cancer

Radio star Tony Fenton is coming back to the airwaves after beating cancer.

The DJ has been handed a new Sunday afternoon slot on Today FM – called Tony Presents – which will start next month.

But Louise Duffy will continue to host the 53-year-old’s weekday show which she has been looking after for most of the year.

“Each weekend the programme will feature Tony on a range of music,” a source told the Sun.

“One edition, for instance, called Northern Lights, will chronicle popular Northern Irish rock bands.”

And Tony admits he can’t wait to get back to his weekday slot, but this is a way of easing him back to work after his fight against aggressive prostate tumours.

“I didn’t want to go back on air and then be on for three weeks and then off for a week, so I decided to take four or five months off and just get better,” he said.

“At this point, it might sound mad, but being on air is fun to me. I don’t want to be sitting at home looking at four walls when I could be doing a day’s work.”
