Today FM have admitted that they’re disappointed in today’s JNLR ratings as listenership drops.

A spokesperson for the station told Goss.ie that it’s a disappointing day for radio as numbers drop for some of their top shows.

“Disappointing day for radio all around,” she said.

Previous high hitter Ian Dempsey has dropped in listenership by 7% in the last three months – dropping down to 173,000.

“Local radio has appeared to be the big winner this this book but we don’t intend letting a blip like this interfer with our strategy,” they continued.

The Anton Savage brought in a listenership of 166,000 over the last quarter dropping down by 8% and The Last Word With Matt Cooper has dropped by 3% bringing listernship down to 136,000 over the pass three months

It’s better news for Dermot Whelan and Dave Moore as their show only dropped by 1% with 113,000 listeners in the past three months and great news for Fergal D’Arcy who brought in 97,000 listeners to his new drive-time slot.

RTE Radio 1 had a slightly better quarter overall – but some shows also lost listeners.

Morning Ireland has the most listeners with 444,000 listeners tuning in with Liveline With Joe Duffy squeezing in second place with 395,000.

Marian Funucane’s show dropped by 13,000 from 400,000 to 387,000 meanwhile Sunday with Miriam racked in 254,000 listeners in the last three months.

The Ryan Tubridy Show ended this quarter with 316,000 listeners and chat show host rival Ray had exactly 100,000 less than Ryan with 216,000 switching on to his show, The Ray D’Arcy Show.

Claire Byrne smashed the books last quarter and this time around had 244,000 listeners.
