98FM’s Ray Foley has hit out at RTE stars who claim to be poor because of all the taxes they have to pay.
The Take Me Out star said radio presenters who say they have no cash “are being disingenuous” – “especially RTE presenters who moan about taxes”.
He added: “Their salaries are published and we know how high they are. I make a good living but I’m not rich. I have a Monday to Friday job and, if I didn’t have it, I’d be on the breadline.”

The former Today FM star insisted he hasn’t been unaffected by the recession, and even took two pay cuts in the independent station where he used to present the mid-morning show.
Asked if he’s been personally affected by the recession, he said: “I’m lucky because I’m at the stage of my working life where I’m not starting or finishing my career.
“We took two pay cuts in Today FM during the worst of the recession, so I wasn’t completely unaffected.”

He added that his eight days work presenting Take Me Out is the most lucrative work he’s even done, landing him with a “good pay cheque”.
And Ray told the Sunday Times that he used to be shocked by the way stars would act during the boom.
He said: “I remember being shocked at the bottles of champagne that flowed on nights out during the boom and by those who would pop into the Four Seasons hotel for the night rather than get a taxi home.”
