FM104's Jim Jim Nugent apologises for 'RACIST' Love/Hate traveller skit

Radio star Jim Jim Nugent has apologised after FM104 released a comedy skit on Love/Hate, where they made fun of actor John Connors.

The Strawberry Alarm Clock broadcast a sketch where they referred to John’s character Patrick as “the traveller character” before adding he was “scary” because he was held back at school.

Actor John, who is a settled traveller in real life, contacted Jim Jim and accused him of racism, asking the radio station to take the skit down.

The first traveller Miss Ireland contestant Sarah Jane Dunne had also demanded an apology and made an official complaint to the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland.

Now Jim Jim has released an apology to Love/Hate fans and everyone who complained.

“We had a sketch called ‘LOVE/HATE – when they were kids’ that has seemed to upset some members of the travelling community.

“This was NOT the intention AT ALL and was only meant to be humorous. Actor John Connors (who plays Patrick) had previously left us a message at how funny our skit called ‘Nidge, Fran & The Traveller character’ was.

“He didn’t enjoy this one and I have sent him a private message on the matter.

“We have removed the video and apologise for any offence taken. It really was not our intention.”

The skit has now been removed from Youtube, but their previous skit about the “traveller character” is still available.
