EXCLUSIVE! Eoghan McDermott: 'I'm too young to take over Ray D'Arcy's Today FM slot'

Presenter Eoghan McDermott has insisted he’s not old enough to take over Ray D’Arcy’s show on Today FM.

The radio host is set to take over Derek Mooney’s show on RTE Radio One in February, and Today FM are on the look out for Ray’s replacement.

Speaking to Goss.ie Eoghan said he wouldn’t have the experience to take over Ray’s slot.

“I’m a little bit too young,” he said.

“I kind of think that slot needs to be someone who has kids, a few more years behind them and has a different take on things,” he added.

Meanwhile The Voice presenter revealed he is enjoying looking after Louise McSharry’s 2FM show – while she battles cancer.

The radio star is currently out on leave to undergo chemotherapy, and Eoghan, 31, has stepped in to look after the show until April.

“It’s been a pleasure,” Eoghan told Goss.ie.

“It’s a real chilled out slot, it’s one of the few ones that you get to play music that’s not necessarily heavily play listed which is great.

“Because there’s a huge amount of Irish music out there that’s awesome.”
