EXCLUSIVE! 4FM's Niall Boylan blasts Colm Hayes: 'RTE know he wasn't good enough to replace Gerry Ryan'

4FM presenter Niall Boylan has hit back at rival Colm Hayes – as their feud gets even more explosive.

Goss.ie this week told how the 2FM DJ hit out at Niall, accusing him of “purile sensationalism”.

Now Niall has hit back at the 2FM star, claiming he wasn’t good enough to replace Gerry Ryan after his tragic death in 2010.

“He used to be on breakfast in RTE he clearly wasn’t good enough to replace Gerry Ryan so they moved him to afternoon,” he told Goss.ie.

Controversial: Niall has blasted Colm Hayes

“And he has some cheek slagging me off I don’t even know the guy. So that’s why I responded basically saying he is getting bitter in his old age and he obviously clearly was very bitter.

“He just had a go at me because I’m on radio and for some reason he clearly believes he is better than me which he’s clearly not.”

And Niall believes 4FM will reach the same listenership figures as rival station 2FM.

He added: “We don’t have the amount of listeners as RTE has currently at the moment but we’ll get there.

“Sadly RTE is falling apart at the seams. They can’t realise that and they still have the same ego, they shouldn’t have. Many of the presenters still have that huge ego trip when they’re with RTE.”

And Niall also slammed Ryan Tubridy for being “too boring” on 2FM – insisted the Late Late Show host should make the move to RTE Radio One.

“It’s not a personal attack because I think Ryan Tubridy is a really nice guy but I believe he is on the wrong radio station,” he told Goss.ie.

“I think probably Radio One which I think will happen in the near future anyway. I don’t think he’s able for the type of show that he is doing.

“I think he is more suitable at talking to an older audience talking about everyday things.

“I don’t think he is able for those type of conversations that middle aged people or younger people would be having. 2FM is meant to be a young station so what is Colm Hayes is doing there anyway?”

When contacted by Goss.ie, RTE said they would rather not comment.
