Today FM star Anton Savage has told of his delight at taking over from Ray D’Arcy – so he can stop “living like a toddler”.
The Dubliner was forced to give up his role presenting on Ireland AM for the new radio gig.
But Anton, who is also down his Sunday radio show, revealed it’s meant he now doesn’t have 3.30am starts and 7pm finishes.

He said: “Doing the new show is slightly less work overall because I was doing the day job and a Sunday radio show.
“And, for a large part of last year, I was presenting Ireland AM on TV3, which meant 3.30am starts and finishes at 7pm. I have weekends back for the first time in five years.
“[The starts were] tough during the summer, smelling barbecue wafting up to the open window.

“And hearing people sitting out in their back gardens and you’re in bed trying to sleep. So it’s great I’m doing purely radio now.”
And Anton told the Herald that despite starting his first show with an Kevin Spacey interview, he isn’t actually interested in the celebrities.
He said: “Oddly, you’d think the Holly- wood names are the best bit but it’s people’s personal stories I’m most interested in.”
