2FM's Eoghan McDermott accuses Dermot and Dave of 'stealing' his show ideas

2FM presenter Eoghan McDermott has accused Today FM’s Dermot and Dave of “stealing” his ideas for their programme.

The RTE star said it was “bulls**t” to discover they had nicked his segment, where he takes lyrics from a song and Google Translates them through a number of languages.

The Voice co-host there was “shock and horror” to be told by his producer they were using his segment – Lost In Translation – which he came up with in 2011 while working for XFM in London.

In an on-air rant, he said: “Low and behold, my surprise, shock and horror to be informed today by producer Trace that she had been told that a rival radio station show, Dermot and Dave from Today FM, had been doing something similar.

“I couldn’t believe it. I said, this can’t be true. Two reputable radio presenters, albeit from a rival station, these men have integrity. They wouldn’t stoop so low as to blatantly steal from another show.

“So we went and procured the audio from their show.”

And after playing their segment on his 2FM programme, Eoghan told listeners: “What’s that smell guys? It’s the smell of bulls**t.”

He also mimicked spitting in a bucket whenever he mentioned his rival’s names.

He is currently filling in for Louise McSharry while she is off air for six months as she battles cancer.

Previously, Eoghan told how he believes he radiates a gay ‘vibe’ – as men keep chatting him up.
