Woman Crush Wednesday: TooDollyMakeup

We’re all about female empowerment here at Goss.ie, and in this weekly segment we’ll be meeting an inspiring lady every Wednesday.

For our very first Woman Crush Wednesday we chatted to Tipperary Model Aoife Walsh, and now for our second – we caught up with Beauty Blogger TooDollyMakeup aka Jen Morris.

Why We’re Crushing

2016 has been a great year so far for Jen, after blogging for the past few years, she finally started to receive some recognition for her talents.

Crediting Snapchat for the reason her blogging really took off, Jen was nominated for an Image Business of Beauty award and won the public vote of an International Rimmel London Look Competition.

From filming makeup tutorials to working part-time in PR, Jen leads an exciting life, and we can definitely see big things for her in the future.

Goss.ie: So, how did you get into the industry?

Jen: I always had a really strong love for beauty, even when I was a child! My Mam got me a chalk board and instead of pretending to be a teacher, I crushed up the chalk and made eyeshadows!

I started following a lot of you-tubers and bloggers when online first exploded. The first one I ever followed was Lauren Luke, Remember her, she was massive! I decided then that I’d start creating content after my best friend Corrina twisted my arm and the rest is history.

I blogged here and there for years, I almost gave it up last summer, and then Snapchat came along! It all really took off for me after I started using Snapchat, I think that it was a game changer for a lot of people.

I was nominated for an Image Business of Beauty award and won the public vote of the Rimmel London Look Competion internationally, 2016 has been pretty amazing!

Goss.ie: What is a normal working week like for you?

Jen: I don’t think I have a cut and paste week really. I work part time for Revolve PR which is always exiting. There is always something new going on in the office so I love it.

I’m also almost finished a business course so that keeps me really busy, between classes and assignments I always have something to do.

Now that all the boring stuff is out of the way, I spend every second of spare time that I have either watching RuPauls Drag Race or creating content for my social media. You can find me doing a full glam tutorial at 1am on a Tuesday night all to just take pics for the gram, take it off and go to bed.

I’m also very lucky to be invited to some amazing beauty events, I go to a lot because I love to be able to show the people that follow me all the cool things that are launching. Sometimes it feels like I’m whispering something top secret to my besties! It also a great chance to catch up with other friends in the industry!

Goss.ie: How do you stay in shape and stay healthy?

Jen: I try to eat as well as I possibly can and exercise. I have lost almost 6 stone by following the basic guidelines of slimming world but I needed something more realistic.

I’m now doing an online PT and Nutrition plan with Sonny Hunt Fitness it’s great because I don’t feel deprived at all and he is really helpful and funny!

Goss.ie: What’s your go to beauty product?

Jen: It 100% has to be the Cailyn Super HD foundation. It literally makes you look airbrushed without looking caked and I ADORE IT.

Second to that I would say good skincare products because if the base isn’t right nothing will look right! I love Bioderma.

Goss.ie: What’s the one thing you can’t live without?

Jen: My phone, it is glued to my hand. I don’t know how I lived 15 years without one!

Goss.ie: What is your big dream?

Jen: I just want to be happy. I think we as millennials are so hard on ourselves, that can be stressful sometimes.

I’ve had my struggles, and I’m so happy now that I feel like I’m living the dream and if I keep working as hard as I have been so far I will continue to live it.

Myself and my beautiful friend Laura (LauDempseyMUA on Insta) are starting to do Masterclasses now as we are both trained artists, it would be a serious dream for The Slay Date to become a successful series of classes!

Goss.ie: What advice do you have for people getting into the industry?

Jen: BE YOURSELF!

I know that is so overused but people can see right through you if you’re fake. You’re the only person in the world that is you, so show people.

Also don’t pay attention to negative people, unless they are paying your bills pay them no mind!
