X Factor star Chris Leonard says he's 'thankful' to have his band mates

Irish X Factor star Chris Leonard has revealed that he is “thankful” to have the support of his band mates – ahead of the first live show this weekend.

The Meath singer got the boot as a solo artist but was then selected for the new eight-piece boy band by the judges.

“We all entered as solo singers but really, all of us were saying we’re so thankful we didn’t make it as solo singers now,” he said.

“It’s fantastic to have the support. It’s so much easier knowing I’m not going to be alone when I go out before an audience of ten million on Saturday,” he said.

“We’re a team now, it’s easier. I think it’s a lot more stressful to be a solo act.”

“This is a dream for everyone. We all want this, we’re a team and we’re really supportive of everyone else.”

The X Factor hopeful also revealed that the competition will be tough this year due to the “incredible” talent.

“It’s going to be much tougher than I expected. The acts are incredible,” he told the Irish Daily Star.

“I’ve been watching the X Factor for years but this is the best year in a long time. I didn’t know how good everyone was going to be.”

“Everyone keeps saying that because there’s eight of us we can’t all be getting on”
