WATCH: Taylor Swift drops brand new video for surprise Christmas song

The singer has been hinting at the song since April

Taylor Swift has dropped a brand new music video for the release her surprise Christmas song – Christmas Tree Farm.

The title of the song is a nod to Taylor’s youth, as she grew up on a Christmas tree farm in Pennsylvania.

The video includes adorable home film footage from the singer’s festive childhood at Christmas.

Announcing the release of the song only yesterday, Taylor took to Twitter to share the news.

“When in doubt, ask the itty bitty pretty kitty committee,” she said, posting a video of her cats Meredith, Olivia, and Benjamin.

“When they shun you with silence, ambivalence, and judgemental brush offs… just put the song out anyway,” wrote Taylor.

Fans of the Lover singer will be familiar with Taylor’s fondness for dropping hints to her fans about future releases.

This song was no different, as it seems the 29-year-old has been hinting at the release of a Christmas song since April.

On April 26th, Taylor released the music video for the lead single from her August album, Lover.

In the video, which gave many hints about her upcoming album, a Christmas Tree takes pride of place in one of the opening shots.

While many fans took it as a nod to her upbringing, it is now confirmed that it was, in fact, a hint that a song about a Christmas Tree was coming.
