Una Foden's bandmates feared she'd QUIT Saturdays after pregnancy

Una Foden has admitted that her bandmates feared she was going to quit the Saturdays after having a baby.

The Tipperary singer – who is married to rugby star Ben Foden – became pregnant with Aoife Belle in 2011.

And the 32-year-old, who was over in Ireland with Aoife to watch the Tipperary GAA match, said there was a worry she would leave the band to become a full-time mum.

“I think in pop music people assume once you have a child that is the end. Being a mum is such a huge responsibility and your job never stops,” she said.

“I love what I do, it’s my dream and if anything Aoife adds to my dreams and inspirations.”

And Una revealed that in the UK there are a lot of issues with pronouncing Aoife’s name – but is glad it will always remind her of her Irish roots.

“I think that they’re really warming to all the Irish names like Aoife and Saoirse and Siobhan and Niamh [in England],” she told Saturday Night With Miriam.

“When they see them written down first, they don’t quite understand what they are, but they hear them and they’re such beautiful names and they learn them.

“I’ve quite a lot of Aoifes come up to me and say, ‘Oh thanks for calling your daughter Aoife because now anywhere I go in the world people actually know what my name is now’.

“She knows her roots and I’ve given her that stamp with the name Aoife, she’s never going to forget that she’s half-Irish.”
