U2 will be back touring NEXT year – but are planning to offer 'something new'

U2 star Bono has insisted the band will be back touring next year – after their album’s shock release.

But the Dublin rocker insists they won’t be doing the same thing as always – and are planning “something fresh”.

He said: “We don’t have a firm start date for the next U2 tour, but it will be next year.

“We need good ideas to go back out there live. Expect something new, something fresh.”

U2 shocked the world this week when they released new record Songs of Innocence for free with iTunes – to more than half a billion people.

And Bono told the Irish Times another new record, Songs of Experience, will be released soon.

“Over the next while we will be collaborating with Apple on some cool stuff,” he said.

“And Songs of Experience should be ready soon enough. I know I’ve said that before.”

But Bono admitted the reason the album took so long to make – not coming until five years after No Line On The Horizon – is because they band isn’t good enough.

He said: “The honest truth here is that I wish we were a better band. I wish we were a more talented band.

“The reason why this new album didn’t happen for us for so many years is because of this.”
