U2 have finished their new album – and plan to release before end of year

U2’s new album has been finished – and will be coming out before the end of the year.

The Dublin band had been struggling with writers block, with it taking them five years to perfect the upcoming record.

Now it has emerged that Bono and the rest of the band will be releasing the album before the end of the year, and most likely in November before Christmas.

“The U2 comeback is very much on for this year. This album has been a real struggle for them to make,” a source told the Sun.

“It’s taken a long time and Bono didn’t find it easy. But they feel very confident now and are convinced the wait has been worth it.”

It will be their first release since 2009’s No Line On The Horizon.

Insiders revealed they are considering showing off their new material at an intimate iTunes show in London in September.

Previously, the 53-year-old had forced their management to push back their plans to release the record around June or July.

A source said: “Bono’s had trouble writing songs for the new album.

“There’s no new music. It’s easy to release a song, but not an album. It’s as simple as this — the album isn’t done.”
