Singer Ed Sheeran credits Irish cousin with his worldwide success

Popular musician Ed Sheera has thanked his Irish cousin for getting him into music.

The Give Me Love singer has revealed that Galway native Laura Sheeran first got him on the road to success.

“Laura was the one who first introduced me to Damien Rice’s music, which got me into song-writing which got me on to performing,” he said.

“Me and Laura have been best mates since we were born and we have this love for music.”

Performance: Ed serenaded fans in HMV

Speaking on The Louise Duffy Show in Dublin’s HMV store on Henry Street, Ed said he had a great time at Laura’s wedding which he said was “a three-day event”.

The singer also explained why he decided to surprise punters at Dublin pup Doyle’s earlier this week.

“I did the Ruby Sessions the last time I did Arthurs Day last time, and it was up there with my favourite gigs of all time,” he explained.
