Love/Hate's Aoibhinn McGinnity admits her singing is a 'bit rusty' ahead of Elf The Musical

She’s best known for playing Nidge’s wife Trish in Love/Hate, but Aoibhinn McGinnity will be showing off her sweet side in Elf The Musical.

And while it was easy for the actress to play a Dublin gang land wife, Aoibhinn has admitted she needs to brush up on her singing skills.

“I’m a wee bit rusty. Especially at singing at the same time of roller blading and ice skating,” she said.

Rusty: Aoibhinn is working hard to brush up on her musical skills

“Doing it all together at once is a certain kind of stamina.”

Aoibhinn showed off her singing skills ahead of her Bord Gais Energy Theatre debut, when she performed on the Late Late Show this weekend.

Speaking to Dave Fanning on 2FM, Aoibhinn revealed that she never really wanted to be an actress and performer, that it just naturally happened.

“I didn’t have a big revelation or moment I just did it,” she explained.

“I went to dance college in Dublin and then I went to London. I was 18 when I went to dance college.

“It was really tough doing musical theatre but it’s discipline I’ll never lose or forget.”

Meanwhile Aoibhinn, 28, admitted she would kill to have a role in US show Orange Is The New Black.

“That would be amazing. But that’s really gritty that show.”
