Kian Egan: 'I wanted Westlife to succeed after Brian McFadden left – as a f**k you to him'

Kian Egan wanted Westlife to be successful after Brian McFadden left – as a “f**k you” to his ex-bandmate.

The Voice of Ireland coach was shocked and hit hard when Brian quit the successful group in 2004, straight before a major tour.

And Kian, 34, said they only decided to keep going was to prove Brian wrong after the hurt he caused the band.

He also felt that Brian was “laughing” at him when he read out an emotional tribute to Brian during a farewell press conference.

“I got hurt by that and very shortly after that it became, ‘Right, we’re going to show him, we can do this, kind of attitude. F**k you’,” he said.

“Brian… said he didn’t want to be in this industry, doing this lifestyle anymore, and then three months later he released a solo album.”

Now things have changed and Brian McFadden has admitted he would rejoin Westlife for a reunion tour.
