Irish X Factor star Chris Leonard has vowed that Stereo Kicks will become as big as One Direction after their show axe.
The Meath native insisted the band plan on staying together and shooting for the stars despite being booted from The X Factor.
He said: “The rumours of a split are not true. You don’t have to win the show to do well and we just hope we’re good enough as a band to take over the world.
“We’ll give One Direction a run for their money, why not?”
Gutted: Louis will not manage Stereo Kicks post-X Factor
And Chris revealed that Louis Walsh – who was their mentor on the show – was “gutted” they were eliminated.
He added: “He said to us, ‘I feel responsible’, but he was great. He cried a little bit. We loved working with him and was awesome.
Rivalry: Stereo Kicks want to give One Direction a run for their money
Meanwhile Louis – who is currently busy managing Irish boyband Hometown – has confirmed he will not be working with Stereo Kicks now that they have left the hit show.
He told the Star: “I never had any option to manage Stereo Kicks even if I wanted to. They are signed to James Grant Management.
“I did 100% the best I could for them and they know that, but I won’t be involved with them from now on.”
