Irish singer Gavin James lands lucrative record deal with Capitol Records

Gavin James has signed a lucrative record deal with Capitol Records – a division of Universal Music.

The Dublin singer, who was tipped by Ed Sheeran as the next big thing, revealed he is “delighted” after signing the deal days before Christmas.

“I signed to Capitol Records in North America yesterday, it was actually in a Subway in town,” Gavin revealed.

“I’m delighted, everything’s going well so next year is going well.”

“I’m doing a lot of stuff next year, I’m pretty much going to be in the states for most of next year.

“They heard the live album and said ‘he’s pretty good’, it’s great,” he added.

Speaking to Pat Kenny on his Newstalk show, Gavin said he is starting to record his new album in a matter of weeks.

“I’m recording in London for the start of January, hopefully I’ll be done by March,” he said.

 

Meanwhile Gavin, who’s Live At Whelans album has stormed the charts, thanked Ed Sheeran for his support, saying his is a lovely guy.

“I met in Ruby sessions in Doyles two months ago and he’s just a lovely guy and I went on tour with a friend of his and he just chatted.

Famous names with Capitol Records include Mary J Blige, The Foo Fighters and previously The Beatles.
