Irish S Club 7: Meet Linda Martin's new 'good looking' pop band

This is the first look at Linda Martin’s new band Syngstreet – which she is hoping will top the charts soon.

The Eurovision winner set up up the five-piece mixed-sex group with Stuart O’Connor – who has been the brains behind Jedward’s pantos.

It includes Stephen Murray, Shannon Nolan, Dylan Reid, Sharon McCluskey and Alan McGrath, with the latter one of the dancers with Ryan Dolan at the Eurovision last year.

However Syngstreet will have a fight on their hands as they go up against Louis Walsh’s new boyband Hometown, who have sorted a major record deal with Sony.

Previously Linda, 66, said she wanted to bring back a “bubblegum pop” group where everyone had to be “good-looking” after being given the push by X Factor judge Louis.

She said: “Last year, Louis was holding auditions for his new band [Homeland] and we were involved in those as they went through the call backs. There was some astounding talent in so many forms.

“As we came to the end of the decision, and Louis was whittling down the numbers, he was looking for voices.

“He was looking for particular types of voices, and at one point he turned around to me and said, ‘Put a boy-girl band together’.

“I said, ‘Well if it’s such a good idea why don’t you do it?’ “And he said, ‘I’m not working with girls – they’re too highmaintenance. But you do it’.”
