Hozier has revealed he decided to show two men snogging in his first music video to express his extreme hatred of bigots.
The rising Wicklow superstar exploded to success with his debut single Take Me To Church last year.
Its video shows a gay couple being beaten and hounded by a disgusting vigilante mob, and has been viewed more than 20 million times.
And Hozier, 24, said it expresses his anger of bigoted organisations that “teach people to be ashamed of certain aspects of themselves”.
He said: “The song Take me to Church expresses frustrations with an organisation that might teach people to be ashamed of some of the more natural aspects about being a person.
“The song is about sexuality and sex, I suppose. And I didn’t want the video to reflect a religious organisation so to speak.
“But, there are organisations all over the world, regardless of justification, that undermine a very natural part of human experience. And teach people to be ashamed of certain aspects of themselves.”
