Hozier admits recording Tarzan soundtrack was ‘a tricky one’

Hozier has admitted that recording his soundtrack Better Love for new film The Legend of Tarzan was “a tricky one”.

The Bray native, who has been making waves in the music industry since releasing his hit song Take Me To Church, was approached by Hollywood filmmakers just eight weeks ago to record a song for the film.

While the project was exciting, Hozier revealed that the four-week deadline was challenging.

“I was in LA around eight weeks ago, and I was just finishing up the last tour commitments.

The filmmakers reached out, and because I was in the city at the time I was able to see an early edit of the film,” he said on The Pat Kenny Show on Newstalk.

“It was a tricky one, it was literally the first week where I had no commitments so it was the first chance I’d had to take on a project like that.

“It was eight weeks ago that I’d heard about it and there was a four-week deadline to deliver it mixed and mastered.

“It’s kind of one of those things where you can’t make any promises on it. If I have a demo in about five days to a week, great. It’s hard to force an idea if it doesn’t feel right,” he explained.

Meanwhile, the 26-year-old admitted that he’s finally ready to take some time off to get cracking on his next album.

“I haven’t had the space and time to let them find their way to being full songs. I’m excited to settle down and make something of them,” he added.
