Good news for Garth Brooks fans – the concerts will definitely be going ahead, Croke Park have confirmed.

The US country legend is set to play to 400,000 fans across five nights at the home of GAA from July 25 to 29.

Local residents have called on Dublin City Council to refuse the gig licence, claiming their lives will be made hell by the Friends In Low Places singer.

But the Director of Croke Park, Peter McKenna insisted nothing will stop Garth putting on a show, and the licence is all but confirmed.

“We hope to get the licence in the next couple of weeks and then we’ll give certitude to the event,” he sad.

“In my view it will go ahead and the five concerts will happen. We had permission for the three One Direction concerts, but you are allowed to apply for a licence to run other events.

“That’s what we’ve done for Garth Brooks. It’s not the first time, we’ve applied for various different events in the past.”

The American chose Ireland for the first stage of his comeback tour because of his massive following here.
