Former bankrupt Shane Filan hopes autobiography will help others financially struggling

Former Westlife star Shane Filan hopes his honest new autobiography will help others seriously struggling with their finances.

The Sligo singer ended up owing the banks €23 million after the collapse of his property empire with his brother.

Now the 35-year-old is back in the money after drastically declaring himself bankrupt in the UK two years ago.

And Shane is planning to tell all about his financial woes in autobiography My Side Of Life, which comes out next month.

“It’s a very honest book, very true. It brings back a lot of hard memories for me,” she said.

“And to a time where I was very scared and anxious, I had three small children to support.

“I hope it helps. People have done very drastic things when going through financial problems and I hope it can prevent some of that.”

Recently Shane picked himself up and has worked to rebuild his riches with a solo album and tour.

And Shane told the Irish Mirror that he feels much happier after the year-long bankruptcy hell he suffered.

He insisted: “I’m good, I’m doing a lot better than I was. The past few years were very difficult but I’m at a stage now where I’m focused and I’m happy.”

At the time, Shane insisted he only went to the bankruptcy courts because he couldn’t see any other way out.

A deal was recently struck to sell off his luxury Sligo pad in bid to clear some of his debt.
