Eurovision winner Conchita won't stop coming to Ireland – as we have 'lovely, handsome boys'

Eurovision winner Conchita Wurst has revealed the reason she keeps coming back to Ireland… the men.

The Austrian singer – who is in Dublin to perform at The George tonight for Pride – said all she ends up meeting is “lovely, handsome boys” while here.

And Conchita, who won last month in Denmark, told Goss.ie that Ireland could be back winning Eurovision in the future by sticking to our traditional songs.

“I think you should just stick to your beliefs and you will see if it works out or not. In the music industry you so need so much talent,” she said.

“You need so much patience. You have to be so patient. You also need luck so much. You have to be there at the right time, in the right place, with the right song. There is no recipe.”

During her stay in Ireland, Conchita revealed she won’t be able to booze the night away because of an early flight back to London.

And asked if she would be having a pint of Guinness, Conchita replied: “Oh my God, no. You know what, I love to party and once I start I continue. That’s not good because I have to get up early. Maybe a sip.”

However Conchita is hoping for another return so she can properly party in the Fair City – after making a bond here given the Irish were so supportive before she even won the song contest.

“People in Ireland supported me all the way without the Eurovision win and without really knowing who I am,” she added. “So after this all happened, I focused on these people because they always believed in me.”

And Conchita used her time to take on the Irish Government, insisting it is “so unnecessary” that gay marriage isn’t legal yet.

“What is so hard with creating equality? For me a perfect world would be where we don’t have to talk about sexual orientations. Or the colour of your skin,” she explained.

“It’s not important, it shouldn’t be important. I don’t need discussions, I don’t think the politicians should think about it, I want a solution. I don’t want to wait. Nobody wants to wait.”

The Austrian added that she knows she is extremely political, but that is just the way it happened for her.

“I know that I am quite political with all the things I say and I do. But I just really talk about human rights,” she said.

“I am a member of the gay community, I will never forget where I am from, but I don’t just want to focus on the gay community because there are so many people who just need to live in freedom.

“But particularly when it comes to Russia my focus is on the gay community. I just keep on saying what I believe in. I don’t need a particular role, it just comes with time.”
