Speaking to Entertainment Tonight’s Keltie Knight, Ed revealed that the original version of “Perfect” was only ever meant to feature an acoustic guitar.

When Bey arrived for her recording of the song, she quickly stripped back the song to just an acoustic guitar, which delighted Ed.

“I don’t know how you feel about this but I’ve taken all the instruments off it and it’s just gonna be acoustic guitar,” Beyonce said.

“Ah that’s great, because it used to be that!,” Ed replied.

The A Team singer also explained just how difficult it is to get in touch with the superstar.

“I have an email address that I email that actually changes every week,” he said.

The “Shape of You” singer also told Keltie that it only took the American singer-songwriter one take to get it right, and that the song has actually been recorded for ages.

The process was “very much a back and forth thing,” he told Keltie, “One-take vocals”.

“She was just like, ‘Right,’ went in, one take, came out and was like, ‘Oh, that sounds alright,'” he added.

But other than that, Ed was chuffed with the whole process and was delighted to have her on his track.

“Obviously she had twins [in June], and we finished [the song] in September, so I’ve been holding onto it since then,” Ed said.

Well it was definitely worth the wait! Have a listen here:
