Country music festival planned for Dublin after Garth Brooks devastation

A country music festival is to take place in Dublin later this month to help devastated Garth Brooks fans.

More than 400,000 people have been left in the lurch after all five Croke Park shows were cancelled this week.

But Fáilte Ireland have been working with the Department of Tourism to put together a country music festival to fill the void.

It will “specifically target people who had booked accommodation for the shows”.

Full details of the plans will be announced this morning.

But Failte Ireland’s Dublin director Orla Carroll said the event “would be a bit of hoedown”.

They are planning a number of free events, which will ease the paid of the 70,000 international Garth Brooks fans who had booked to travel to Dublin for shows.

It has emerged that Garth will lose €10 million after failing to play any of the shows.
